The Butterfly Lands

______

A BRAND NEW SHOW FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

______

Learn about the migration of people
through the story of a butterfly

_________

Join The Stringcredibles and Nate Holder for a magical new performance
brought direct to your school hall.

We’d like to invite you to take part in the premiere tour of our brand new show – The Butterfly Lands – a magical story of migration told through the metaphor of a butterfly.  The show follows the journey of a butterfly who travels to different islands; music, language, faith, clothing, food; and learns how diversity can bring richness to our experience of life. We tackle sensitive issues creatively and with care, and have developed the show in response to the Kindess Curriculum, which promotes empathy, friendship and wellbeing.
ABOUT THE SHOW
The show is an extravaganza of live music, poetry, movement and interaction, featuring original compositions, writing and illustrations. It has been developed by The Stringcredibles – a quartet of world-class musicians who are also members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra – and Nate Holder – a pro saxophonist and specialist in decolonising the curriculum. We feature data and infographics relating to migration in the West Midlands, specially put together for us by academics at the University of Birmingham.
The Stringcredibles will perform the show with Nate (subject to availability) in your school hall, and can accommodate as many members of the audience as your hall can hold! We encourage clapping, cheering, learning and interaction during the sessions.  They are lively and dynamic, with moments of quiet to pause and reflect on the themes.
The show is most suited to Key Stage 2.
We look forward to performing in your school!

Collectively, we have experience of performing worldwide, with orchestras and recording artists at the highest level. We are experts in education and use our experience to shape our projects, programmes and shows for young audiences and music educators.
